Pestle Pendant silver – 16" belcher chain
Pestle Pendant silver – 16" belcher chain
Also available on a 20" chain. Inspired by the cosmetic pestle grinders Roman women wore around their necks and used to apply coloured pigments to their eyes. The crescent shape and occasional phallic imagery was believed to give them power as symbols of fertility.
Phallic forms and emblems are found on a wide range of Roman amulets. They were symbols intended to bring good luck and ward off evil spirits.

What is vermeil?
What is vermeil?
Gold vermeil is made through the gold plating technique but requires a thicker layer of gold. All Cupio B gold jewellery has 2.5 microns of 18K gold over solid sterling silver and is therefore classed as vermeil. This means it is more durable.
